I didn't know this was coming out so soon! This is exciting. I'm not someone who cares one way or another for Disney: I don't think it's Antichrist of American entertainment, but I like other animation studios better, and don't really follow Disney, although I will admit to having watched any combination of Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King, about sixty-two million times.
However! since I heard it was going to be released, I've been really interested in The Princess and the Frog for several reasons, the primary one being that the movie is going to be more or less in the traditional Disney 2-D style. I'm really happy about this, because I love 2D animation, and, to be honest, have never grown to like the 3D style that's been popular for so long now. I am a crotchety old person when it comes to this newfangled technology messing up my enjoyment of kids' movies, and I will not apologize. :|
But also! 2D animation aside, the setting is so cool! Pseudo-New Orleans with a Voodoo bad guy is something I can totally get behind.
edit: Of course, now that I think about it, I hope the film doesn't portray Voodoo too badly. It's not at all this barbaric, scary religion it's usually made out to be. In fact, the concept of the Voodoo doll as a sort of torture device is incorrect: most Voodoo dolls are used for healing and/or love spells. If you don't know much about about Voodoo, I really suggest reading up on it sometime. It's fascinating.
